Occupy SF Grows In Size, Worries About Raids

Occupy SF's Growing Pains

It's been quite the weekend for Occupy San Francisco -- and it looks like it's going to be quite the week.

The encampment at Justin Herman Plaza grew by about 40 tents over the weekend, according to campers, who are accused of attacking two San Francisco police officers on Saturday with sharp weapons during a march on Saturday. Campers are accuses of cutting one officer on a hand and slashing another in the face, according to the San Francisco Appeal online newspaper.

And now that their sister encampment across the Bay was broken up by Oakland police on Monday morning, Occupy SF is wondering when their number is going to be called.

Some Occupy SF members say that the encampment is losing its focus, becoming more like a "party atmosphere" than one focused on breaking corporate control of the country -- or whatever it was that led campers to set up tents on the bocce ball courts near The Embarcadero a month ago.

There were no arrests as of Sunday afternoon, according to reports.

Mayor Ed Lee, elected to a full term in office on Tuesday, is rumored to be moving towards a plan to break up the encampment.
