This Week in Protest: Occupy Wall Street in SF

Think that New York City has a monopoly on protesting against financial institutions? Think again. Think San Francisco.

A West Coast offense against banks is scheduled in the city's Financial District for today, according to SF Weekly. Dubbed "Make Banks Pay in California," the protest could feature as many as 1,000 angry men, women and members of Anonymous marching through downtown, according to the newspaper, in efforts to draw attention to unfair taxation practices.

"It is important for us to remember that Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and other banks broke no laws in not paying any taxes this year," the Facebook invite to the protest reads. "They didn't have to because their lobbyists helped to write the tax laws."

The group is dubbed "Make Banks Pay in California" and have specifically targeted Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Chase Bank, according to SF Weekly.

"This Week in Protest" is an occasional series that highlights the Bay Area's long-running, historic levels of protesting wrongs -- real, perceived or a combination of the two.
