Vallejo police shot an armed man Thursday after a chase that ended with the suspect's SUV crashing into a pole in East Oakland, according to the Oakland Police Department.
The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. at the end of a pursuit at 22nd Avenue and Solano Way, Oakland police said.
The suspect was armed and wearing body armor, but no officers were injured, police said. He fired at officers during the pursuit, which reached speeds of more than 100 mph, police said.
The suspect, who was shot multiple times, was taken by ambulance to a hospital, but his condition was unknown, police said. They found rifles and assault weapons inside the vehicle he was driving.
It was not clear how many officers fired at the suspect.
