An officer and a suspect were taken to a hospital after an officer-involved shooting in San Francisco's Mission District Saturday morning, authorities said.
Officers responded to a call on 23rd and Capp Street at around 8:34 a.m. in Mission District regarding a hot prowl burglary, the San Francisco Police Department said.
According to SFPD, police encountered a person matching the description of the suspect. The suspect assaulted officers and then the shooting ensued.
Both the suspect and the officer were transported to a local hospital. The suspect is being treated for life threatening injuries.
People are advised to avoid the area of 23rd Street and Mission as police continues to investigate the incident.
Investigations are being conducted by the San Francisco Police Department's Homicide Detail, San Francisco District Attorney's Independent Investigations Bureau, Department of Police Accountability and SFPD Internal Affairs Division.
