San Jose's Downtown Ice skating rink saw some Olympic-caliber moves Wednesday.
Gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi hosted a special holiday party for students from San Jose's Bachrodt Elementary School. While there was lots of skating, some of the focus was on Yamaguchi's Always Dream Foundation benefiting early childhood education.
"We want to make it as special as possible, get them ice skating, maybe a little treat and visit from Santa Claus," Yamaguchi said. "And, of course, it's all about literacy, putting books in their hands so that they can develop their literacy skills at home."
Another famous Bay Area skater, Polina Edmunds, choreographed and performed a routine with young skaters, including Yamaguchi's own daughter, who's following in her mom's ice skates.
