A 52-year-old man was killed in one of two related pile-up collisions near the Altamont Pass on Interstate Highway 580 near Livermore on Saturday afternoon that left six others injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
He was identified today as Stockton resident Hayward Albright, an Alameda County coroner's bureau deputy said.
Around 4 p.m., a blue 2006 Ford F350 pickup truck was traveling on the far left lane on eastbound Highway 580 east of North Flynn Road at speeds of between 55 and 65 mph, CHP officials said.
Traffic ahead of the pickup truck was getting heavy and coming to a stop. The driver was unable to stop the vehicle and collided with a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck, according to the CHP.
The impact of the collision caused the Dodge Ram to crash into a 2015 Honda Pilot that was stopped on the roadway, CHP officials said.
The crash caused a chain reaction that involved two minivans, according to the CHP.
Albright, the driver of the Dodge Ram, received CPR from an officer but was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.

The driver of a red minivan traveling behind the Dodge Ram turned left when the Dodge collided with the Ford, CHP officials said.
The red minivan ended up colliding with the left rear of the Ford, according to the CHP.
A second pile-up collision occurred soon after in which multiple vehicles turned right to avoid the initial collision, CHP officials said.
Three collisions occurred in the second pile-up incident and were moved to the right shoulder, according to the CHP.
The two left lanes were closed until about 8:30 p.m., CHP officials said.
A 46-year-old Stockton woman who was a passenger in the Dodge Ram suffered a major head concussion and was airlifted to Eden Medical Center where she was in stable condition, according to the CHP.
A 73-year-old Stockton man who was a passenger in the Honda Pilot was transported to San Joaquin General Hospital for a broken pelvis and lacerations to his face, CHP officials said.
Four other people, two who were passengers in the Honda Pilot, suffered either minor injuries or complain of pain, according to the CHP.
