Pac 12 Puppies: Four-Legged Fans Ready for Adoption

All Pac 12 football teams received big cheers Friday from four-legged fans.

Eight Pit bull mix puppies and three Chihuahua puppies stole the show at the Pac 12 Puppy Tail-Gate at Great America in Santa Clara.

Each dog wore a bandana representing one of the teams in the Pac 12 football league.

The event kicked off the 2016 Pac-12 Football Championship Game Friday between Colorado and Washington.

The East Bay SPCA helped sponsor the event to raise awareness about shelter animals who need permanent homes.

β€œIt’s important to adopt puppies since we have an extreme population of dogs and cats who don't have homes,” said Jessica Perrin, marketing manager for the East Bay SPCA. β€œAnyone can get a loving and great dog from a shelter.”

Each puppy at the event is ready for adoption. The Pit bulls are nine weeks old from the same litter, and two are females and seven are males. The Chihuahuas are 12 weeks old.

The dogs can be taken home starting Saturday at the East Bay SPCA Dublin location. The office will be open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The cost is $165 dollars to adopt each puppy. The price includes all shots, and each puppy has been spayed and neutered.

The SPCA believes each Pit bull is roughly 11 or 12 pounds right now and will grow to 60 or 70 pounds. The Chihuahuas will grow to about four pounds.
