Pair Arrested on Suspicion of Burglarizing Elderly Peninsula Woman's House

A husband and wife were arrested Thursday in San Mateo and Daly City on suspicion of robbing a 75-year-old woman and burglarizing her home, San Mateo County sheriff's officials said Friday.

Antonio Mapapalangi, 33, was arrested Thursday morning and his wife Zoranna, 38, later that afternoon.

The offenses occurred at the home in the 200 block of Coral Reef Avenue in the unincorporated San Mateo County community of El Granada, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies responded at 12:04 a.m. on Sunday to the home where the victim told them that she was asleep in her bedroom when someone put a pillow on her head and bound her wrists.

One intruder, who the victim thinks was a woman, demanded money. When the victim would not reveal the whereabouts of any money, the two intruders ransacked the home, sheriff's officials said.

The victim could not see the intruders, but said she thought she heard two people. She thhought she recognized the female intruder's voice as her caretaker, according to sheriff's officials.

The victim was not injured but the suspects got away with some money.

After the arrests, deputies booked both suspects into the county jail.
