Parents Want SFPD to Reopen Son's Case

The parents of a French-American man found dead in his apartment nearly two years ago are asking San Francisco police to open a murder investigation into their 36-year-old son's death.

Francois and Mireille de la Plaza say a separate probe by French authorities into their son's death found that he was murdered.

San Francisco police call Hugues de la Plaza's death a suicide after the medical examiner's autopsy was inconclusive. Police are asking the Parisian detectives for a copy of their investigation report.

The De la Plazas, who live in Brignogan on the Atlantic coast of France, are also offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
