Pedestrian Killed in Collision on Fremont Boulevard

Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in Fremont Wednesday morning.

At 6:41 a.m., officers responded to a report that a pedestrian had been struck on Fremont Boulevard, near Old Warm Springs Road, according to police.

When officers arrived, officers found a man lying on the road's shoulder suffering life-threatening injuries, police said.

Paramedics took him to a hospital, however he did not survive, according to police.

Officers initially investigated the collision as a hit-and-run, but the driver eventually returned to the scene and cooperated with police.

Officers determined the female driver was driving south on Fremont Boulevard when she allegedly struck the man, police said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Officers closed one lane of southbound Fremont Boulevard, between Old Warm Springs Road and Ice House Terrace, while collecting evidence from the scene. The lanes were reopened around 12:40 p.m., according to police.
