Pedestrian Killed in Collision With Train in Fairfield

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday afternoon when a train struck them in Fairfield, according to Union Pacific and the Solano County Sheriff's Office.

Amtrak Capitol Corridor train No. 543 was on its way to San Jose from Sacramento at 4:25 p.m. when it struck the person, Amtrak spokeswoman Beth Toll said.

Solano County sheriff's spokesman Deputy Daniel Pratt said the collision occurred near Cordelia and Orehr roads.

None of the 175 people on the train were njured, Toll said. The passengers were transferring to another train to get to San Jose while Amtrak police and other law enforcement investigate the collision, according to Toll.
