Outrage is growing after the Peninsula Humane Society released a video clip showing the owner of a dog-sitting service abusing an animal.
The Humane Society says it was sent the video last month. It shows a woman roughly picking a small dog up by the neck, slamming it to the ground, and then hitting it.
"It saddens us, sickens us and horrified us," said Scott Delluchi, a spokesperson for the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA.
Investigators said the woman runs a dog walking and boarding business out of her home behind Burlingame High School.
After seeing the video, workers from the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA went to the woman’s home and seized 11 dogs. Eight of the dogs seized belonged to clients and the other three dogs belonged to the woman.
Officials said the woman's three dogs won't be returned unless she can prove they will be safe.
Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA is now working on bringing animal abuse charges against the woman. The district attorney said animal abuse can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony.

Dog owners who believe this dog in the video may be theirs, residents who have knowledge of other dogs possibly harmed by the dog sitter or anyone who may have had bad or troubling experiences using the person's dog sitting or boarding services are encouraged to contact the Humane Society or SPCA.
