A person died late Sunday night after being struck by a southbound Caltrain in Redwood City, according to San Mateo County Sheriff's officials.
Caltrain officials reported the death on Twitter at about 9:30 p.m. It occurred at the Chestnut Street crossing, they said.
Train no. 446 struck the person, who was trespassing on the tracks, officials said. Trains were single-tracking through the area, Caltrain officials said. A bus bridge was canceled.
