Plane Crashes in Northern California Vineyard

A single-engine, two-seater plane veered off the runway at Healdsburg Airport Thursday morning and landed in a vineyard, Healdsburg Fire Department Division Chief Steve Adams said.

The man piloting the plane and a passenger were not injured in the incident, which happened around 11 a.m. at the airport on Lytton Springs Road, Adams said.

The plane was in the middle of the runway and was just taking off when it experienced a mechanical problem, Adams said.

Healdsburg police are at the scene awaiting an investigator from the Federal Aviation Administration, Adams said.
