Pleasanton School Board Considering Reducing Summer Vacation to Seven Weeks

The Pleasanton School Board is scheduled to make a decision Tuesday night on a controversial proposal that would reduce summer vacation to seven weeks.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the plan has lost steam over the weeks because a lot of parents complained about the idea. But school leaders still want to modify the district's academic calendar--somehow.

Board members are considering five options, all of which include 180 days of break time per school year.

The most extreme schedule would cut summer breaks to seven weeks and add a two-week break in the fall.
