Man Arrested Following Police Investigation Linked to Explosive Device

Police have arrested a man following an hours-long standoff that ended early Friday in San Jose.

The incident started around 5:30 p.m. Thursday when officers served a search warrant at an apartment complex near Oak Grove High School. The warrant was linked to an explosive device found at the campus earlier in the week, but police are not confirming a direct link to the suspect.

Police have identified the suspect as Andrew White, who was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Friday at the apartment complex in the 5000 block of Tyhurst Court.

When officers searched White's residence, they located what appeared to be several improvised explosive devices. A police bomb unit Friday afternoon were working to clear the area.

Students and staff at Oak Grove were evacuated Tuesday afternoon as a police bomb squad investigated a suspicious device that turned out to be a functioning explosive. Detectives have not confirmed if White is connected with the device found on campus.

Santa Clara County and FBI crime labs were conducting a full analysis of the device and its contents.
