Police Activity Shuts Down Streets in Emeryville

People were being asked to avoid an area of West MacArthur Boulevard in Emeryville on Monday morning because of police activity connected to a suspicious item left in the area.

Emeryville police issued an alert shortly after 8:05 a.m. about the activity in the area of West MacArthur between Emery and Hollis streets. Emeryville police Capt. Oliver Collins told NBC Bay Area the activity is related to a suspicious item but did not offer details.

Police have not released any other details about the incident.

Aerial video footage shows police blocking off an industrial area and clearing out what appeared to be people working in the area.
