Police Arrest Man Who Burglarized Five Businesses in Fairfield

Following a nine-day investigation, police arrested a man who allegedly burglarized multiple businesses in Fairfield.

Starting on Jan. 28, five different businesses were burglarized in Fairfield. In each burglary, the suspect used a pellet gun to shoot out a window to gain access to the business, police said.

After viewing surveillance videos and gathering evidence at each crime scene, police identified the suspect as 32-year-old John Scharff of Fairfield, police said.

On Tuesday morning, detectives searched a home in the 2200 block of Emerson Place where they found evidence linking Scharff to each of the burglaries, police said.

Police arrested Scharff and booked him into Solano County Jail on suspicion of five counts of burglary and a probation violation, police said.

During the search of the home, detectives also found evidence related to two commercial burglaries under investigation by the West Sacramento Police Department. Fairfield police detectives are working with that department to help close those cases, police said.
