South San Francisco police located a dead man at the base of a 30-foot cliff on Tuesday.
The city's police department learned at 10:35 a.m. that San Francisco police found a vehicle near Geneva Boulevard and Brookdale Avenue. Investigators believed — and later confirmed — that the car had been occupied by suspects during an alleged Monday night shooting in South San Francisco.
Police towed the car as evidence and arrested a person of interest.
At about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, the South San Francisco Communications Center received a report of a body turning up along the water's edge near the end of Point San Bruno Boulevard. Responding officers located a deceased man who was identified by family members as one of the victims who was allegedly chased and shot at by suspects overnight Monday.
Police said that the shooting occurred on the 300 block of Point San Bruno Boulevard, in South San Francisco’s industrial area, at about 10:15 p.m.
An investigation showed that three San Francisco residents were in a car in their hometown when another car, with two or three occupants, chased them to South San Francisco.
The pursuit ended when the pair of vehicles arrived at a “dead-end,” police said. The victims disembarked and tried to run away but a man climbed out of the suspect vehicle – a newer model, silver SUV – and shot at them. He then returned to the car and fled, police said.

The suspect allegedly fired several rounds of ammunition at the victims, but police initially said that there was no evidence of anyone getting hurt.
Police did not provide details about how the man was killed or how he ended up at the foot of a cliff.
However, they confirmed that the suspects and victims – all African-American men ranging from 21 to 28 years old – reside in San Francisco. Police believe that the people involved in the incident are not connected to the South San Francisco area where the shooting occurred.
An investigation is ongoing.
