Police Investigate Killing of Elderly Man in San Jose

An 84-year-old grandfather died Friday after a home invasion burglary in San Jose and police are still searching for suspects.

Dispatch audio revealed that officers were responding to reports of someone breaking into a home in the 3200 block of Montecito Drive around 1:30 p.m and shortly after, sources confirmed an elderly man was found dead inside the home.

"We heard it was a burglary and there was an old gentleman that was there and it was an assault and battery and he passed away," said neighbor Anthony Richter.

When police arrived at the Evergreen neighborhood they saw a car leaving the scene and officers pursued the car but ended the chase because of safety reasons.

"Terrible ... Iโ€™ve never heard of anything going on as far as this neighborhood," said neighbor Linda.

The identity of the man will be released by the Santa Clara County Coronerโ€™s Officer after they notify family.

Authorities searched both the neighborhood and a nearby park but there is still no word on any potential suspects.

No other information was immediately available.
