Police were investigating a fatal shooting in Richmond Tuesday afternoon, according to the department.
The shooting occurred in the 1600 block of Chanslor Avenue, police said. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at about 4:05 p.m.
Officers arrived to find an unresponsive male suffering from gunshot wounds in front of a home, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chanslor Avenue was blocked off from 16th street to 19th street, and police were asking the public to avoid the area.
No further details were immediately available.
