Police Say Man Points Gun at Woman During Road Rage Incident in Palo Alto

Police are looking for a man who allegedly brandished a gun at a woman during a road rage incident Thursday afternoon in Palo Alto.

Shortly after 5 p.m., officers responded to a report of a brandishing in the 3300 block of Alma Street that happened an hour before, police said.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, had been driving south on Alma Street and saw someone speeding behind her as she approached Kingsley Avenue, according to police.

The male suspect vehicle swerved around the woman's car, drove in front of her and stopped, police said.

The woman pushed on her brakes to prevent a crash and honked at the suspect, according to police.

They continued driving south to the 3300 block of Alma Street, where the suspect came to a stop, exited his vehicle and yelled at the woman, police said.

The suspect took out a black handgun that he aimed at the woman, who ducked down under her dashboard, according to police.

Seconds later, the woman looked up when she didn't hear anything and saw the suspect speed away south on Alma Street, police said.

It is not clear what originally led the suspect to focus on the woman, according to police.

The suspect is described as a man in his 40s standing about 6 feet tall and weighing roughly 200 pounds. He had a shaved head, stocky build and muscular upper body, police said.

He wore a gray shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes, according to police.

The suspect's vehicle was an vintage gray Chevrolet Camaro from the 1970s or 1980s, police said.
