Police Seek Help Finding Man Accused of Homicide at San Jose Restaurant

"There is someone out there who has so far gotten away with murder, and we want to apprehend him as soon as possible," Sgt. Enrique Garcia stressed

San Jose police reiterated their request for the public's assistance in tracking down a man who they say walked into a Vietnamese restaurant Friday and shot two men, one fatally.

Police said the "brazen" shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. in the "crowded" Bon Mua Restaurant at 1937 Tully Road.

Responding officers located two men who had been shot. Both were transported to a local hospital, where one later succumbed to his injuries while the other is in stable condition, according to police.

The suspect, who has not yet been identified, fired multiple shots at the victims before taking off, police said Monday.

He is believed to be 5'10", weighing about 165 pounds, and wearing a hat, sweatshirt and pants. Police could not confirm the color of the suspect's clothing.

Speaking at a news conference Saturday, Sgt. Enrique Garcia said that the suspect "targeted the victims."

He "shot them point blank" and fled the scene, Garcia said. He urged the suspect to and turn himself in, saying he could "only hide for so long."

Garcia also stressed that  it "would be in everyone's best interest" to take the man, responsible for San Jose's ninth homicide of the year, "off the streets."

"There is someone out there who has so far gotten away with murder, and we want to apprehend him as soon as possible," he said.

People with information about the incident are asked to contact Detective Wayne Smith or Detective Brian McDonald of the San Jose Police Department's Homicide Unit at (408) 277-5283. People who want to remain anonymous can call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (408) 947-7867.
