San Jose's Polina Edmunds has arrived in Sochi and is practicing on Olympic ice.
On Tuesday, U.S. Figure Skating tweeted out a photo of the 15-year-old sophomore at Archbishop Mitty High School getting a feel for the ice in Russia a day before she competes in the women's figure skating short program, which will be streaming live online at 7 a.m. PST.
Polina will be skating 12th in the program.
Polina's dance school, Dance Theatre International, in the Evergreen neighborhood of San Jose will be having a party from afar rooting her on. She takes ballet and jazz there to help her on ice.

Before arriving in Sochi, Polina had been touring and training in Germany and Austria. She arrived to meet her entire family in Russia, the birthplace of her mother, Nina Edmunds, who is also one of her skating coaches.
Polina has now joined her father, John Edmunds, vice president of Inphi in Santa Clara, and two brothers, James, 17, and Daniel, 12, both of whom are hockey players.
Polina is obviously thrilled to be in Sochi. She tweeted a photo of her room, where there's a full-sized poster of herself in her Olympic village room.
