A preliminary 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck parts of the East Bay Thursday night, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The epicenter was reported 0.5 miles west of Kensington, 1 mile east southwest of El Cerrito and about 3 miles north northwest of Berkeley at 9:46 p.m.
No other information was immediately available.
