San Francisco's Punch Line Comedy Club Books All-Female Lineup for Entire Month of March

Female comics and female comics only will hold court on one prominent San Francisco stage for an entire month.

The Punch Line comedy club is hosting Women in Comedy Month in March, with 14 different shows with all-female lineups, starting with a bill on Mar. 1 called "Really Funny Comedians (Who Happen to Be Women)."

Other highlights of the Punch Line schedule include British ex-pat Gina Yashere (Mar. 9-12), local lesbian comic icon Marga Gomez (Mar. 22) and Ms. Pat, the street-raised Atlanta comedienne behind a highly anticipated summer memoir (Mar. 24-26).

The celebration comes at a timely juncture as Boston's annual Women in Comedy Festival has announced that it would take 2016 off in order to build a bigger and better event for next year.

And, truth be told, the Punch Line is keeping the spotlight on women a bit longer than a month. The last performer, Cristela Alonzo (who starred in her own network sitcom "Cristela"), will take the stage from Mar. 31 to Apr. 2.
