“Random” Shooting of Couple on San Jose Porch: Police

San Jose police are investigating what appears to be a random shooting early Thanksgiving morning, where a young couple was sitting on a porch and shot at four or five times.

"I don't believe the victims and the suspects knew each other," said Police Lt. Paul Messier. "There was no dialogue."

The injuries are non-lifethreatening, police said, and two suspects fled.

The young man and woman were sitting on a porch in the 800 block of State Street when the 4 a.m. shooting occurred. A witness said she heard five shots. The man was struck at least once, police said, and the woman was shot in the foot.

About two hours earlier, police went to the 2200 block of Dobern Avenue to find a man suffering at least one gunshot wound. He also is expected to live.

There are no suspects in custody following both of the shootings.
