Redwood City Spa Owner Pleads Not Guilty to Pimping Charges

The owner of two Redwood City massage parlors pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three counts of pimping and two counts of keeping a house of prostitution, prosecutors said today.

Ting Sun, 28, was arrested Aug. 8 at the New Spa at 636 El Camino Real after an undercover police officer went there and was offered prostitution.

A search of her Milpitas home confirmed she was the owner of the New Spa and another Redwood City spa where a detective had been offered prostitution on July 22, the Aurora Spa at 1685 Broadway.

Two employees of the spas were also arrested -- 38-year-old Li
Zheng at the New Spa and 44-year-old Winnie Tse at the Aurora Spa. They were cited for misdemeanor prostitution and have court dates in October, prosecutors said.

Sun pleaded not guilty to three felony and two misdemeanor charges in the courtroom of Judge Leland Davis on Wednesday and has a preliminary hearing date set for Oct. 9.

She remains free on $100,000 bail, prosecutors said.
