Rehabbed Bobcat Released in Walnut Creek

After spending nearly six months recovering from life-threatening injuries, a young bobcat was released back into the wild earlier this month, according to the Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital in Walnut Creek.

Back in October when it was just weeks old, the bobcat was found caught in a barbed wire fence in Oakley and brought to Lindsay Wildlife. The bobcat, now nine months old and double its weight from six months ago, was approved for release by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in early March.

Lindsay Wildlife takes in one bobcat per year on average, making this cat a rare find for the hospital which, according to their website, treated more than 5,500 animals last year.

The hospital received permission to release the cat onto private property near where it was found, just outside of Brentwood.
