Huckaby May Have Drugged Another Girl

Melissa Huckaby, the woman charged in Sandra Cantu's homicide, may have been linked to the case of another missing girl who was allegedly drugged.

The Tracy Press is reporting that Huckaby is tied to a January police report suggesting someone took a 7-year-old girl to a park for four hours and brought her back high on muscle relaxers.

Huckaby, who is accused of killing Sandra Cantu, wept in a Stockton courtroom during her arraignment on April 14.

The incident was reported on Jan. 17 by a family in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park, where Cantu disappeared several weeks ago, the newspaper said.

According to police logs obtained by the newspaper, the woman who took the girl drove a purple Kia Sportage.

Several hours before Huckaby was arrested in connection with Cantu's homicide, the 28-year-old woman spoke by phone to NBC Bay Area reporter Jodi Hernandez, confirming she had been questioned in a previous incident involving a young girl who may have been drugged.

According to the Tracy Press, "Tracy police Sgt. Tony Sheneman said he can say nothing about the reported abduction in January because it's part of the ongoing murder investigation."

Huckaby is accused of killing Cantu. She was arrested four days after Cantu's body was found stuffed in a suitcase in an irrigation pond north of Tracy.
