Role Players Step Up, Lead Shorthanded Warriors Past Blazers

OAKLAND -- Using most of the same primary ingredient that created an undefeated six-game road trip, the Warriors returned to Oracle Arena Monday night and hung on for a 111-104 win over the Trail Blazers.

Kevin Durant led the Warriors in scoring for the third consecutive game, totaling 28 points. Klay Thompson had 24 points, Nick Young 12, Jordan Bell and Omri Casspi 11 each.

Once again, the Warriors (22-6) rode their defense, holding Portland to 42-percent shooting from the field, including 33.3 percent in the defining third quarter.

Damian Lillard scored a game-high 39 points to lead Portland (13-13), which lost its fifth consecutive game.

STANDOUT PERFORMER: On a night when most everybody made a positive contribution, no one among the Warriors was more essential than Durant.

Durant’s line: 28 points (11-of-21 from the field, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, 4-of-4 from the line), nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks. He played 36 minutes and finished plus-8.

Bell, who started in place of Draymond Green (a late scratch), also shined, totaling 11 points (5-of-6 shooting from the field, 1-of-2 from the line), six rebounds, two assists and one block. He played 26 minutes and finished a team-best plus-14.

TURNING POINT: After Jake Layman made a pair of free throws to tie the score at 32-32, with 10:07 left in the second quarter, the Warriors responded with an 18-6 run to take a 50-38 lead with 3:15 left in the half.

The Warriors limited the Blazers to 2-of-11 shooting (18.2 percent), with four turnovers, during that stretch.

Though the Warriors led by as much as 24 in the second half, the Blazers got within seven in the final seconds.

INJURY UPDATE: WARRIORS: F Draymond Green (R shoulder soreness) was listed as probable and downgraded to out. G Pat McCaw (concussion, nose contusion) was listed as questionable and upgraded to available. G Stephen Curry (R ankle sprain) and C Zaza Pachulia (L shoulder soreness) were listed as out. C Damian Jones is on assignment with the G-League Santa Cruz Warriors.

BLAZERS: F Maurice Harkless (L quad soreness) and C Jusuf Nurkic (R ankle sprain) were listed as out.
