A Powerball lottery ticket purchased in Santa Cruz won $638,000 in Wednesday night's unprecedented $1.586 billion drawing, according to lottery officials.
Albert Graham, a resident of the Carmichael area in Sacramento County, purchased the winning ticket while vacationing with his wife at their condo in Santa Cruz.
He purchased $40 dollars worth of tickets at a Chevron station located at 404 Soquel Avenue. With five out of six numbers a match on one of his tickets, he came close to taking home the $1.5 billion jackpot.
