A Salinas man was sentenced to 75 years to life in prison on Friday for sexually abusing his girlfriend's three young grandchildren, according to the Monterey County District Attorney's Office.
Alexander Telcalco Cortez, 39, had been dating the victims' grandmother for a decade.
Prosecutors said he started abusing the children when they were 7 or 8 years old. His abuse of the oldest victim stopped when she turned 13 but he continued abusing the two younger children until they reported it in August 2018.
If Telcalco Cortez is released from prison, he will have to
register as a sex offender and is forbidden from contacting the victims or their family.
