“Bushman” of Fisherman's Wharf Dies

The Bushman has died.

Gregory Jacobs, the Fisherman's Wharf street performer who became legendary for shaking tree branches to scare tourists, died this week at 60, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

His gig was simple: hold a few eucalyptus branches and sit on a well-trafficked sidewalk. As a tourist would go by, he'd shake the branches and perhaps say, "Boo!"

It worked well -- so well that there is a second Bushman, David Johnson, who still runs the act.
