San Francisco has no drive-in movie theaters, but it could soon get a "walk-in" theater if a fundraising effort is successful.
A Kickstarter campaign launched by PROXY on Octavia Street aims to raise $150,000 by July 16 to build the theater and fund a film festival. If successful, the theater would be free of charge in an accessible outdoor public space that is in the midst of a multi-year refresh thanks to temporary food and beverage businesses housed in shipping containers or mobile trailers.
Curbed noted that there have been plans to include a theater within PROXY for five years.
