San Francisco Fire Displaces 8 People, 6 Pets

Eight adults, five cats and a dog were displaced after a one-alarm fire damaged their home in San Francisco Tuesday night, a fire dispatcher said.

The fire was reported at 9:11 p.m. at 1150 Monterey Blvd., according to the dispatcher.

Three fire chiefs, four engines and two trucks responded to the blaze, which appears to have been contained to a balcony, the dispatcher said.

The fire was declared under control at 9:34 p.m.

One person was transported to an area hospital. The extent of that person's injuries was not immediately available.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene to provide shelter for the people and animals displaced, the dispatcher said.
