San Francisco's La Taqueria Crowned America's Best Burrito

It is over. America's best burrito has been crowned. And the winner is one of the originals: the Mission District's La Taqueria.

The carnitas burrito -- no rice! -- from La Taqueria beat out tens of thousands of pretenders and 63 other contenders to be crowned king of the tortilla-wrapped meal by FiveThirtyEight.com, the outfit that sought out the find the nation's best burrito earlier this year.

The website flew out judges to burrito eateries in Hawaii, Texas, Florida and places in between to find the best burrito of all. What set La Taqueria apart? The burrito's other ingredients, for one, its presentation and its flavor profile were all spot on, the website reported.

That, and the burritos are "juicy." The "liquid ratio" in the burritos earned high marks.

Also on point was its consistency: The judge, Anna Maria Barry-Jester, the website's official "burrito correspondent" -- study hard in j-school, kids, and this job could be yours -- had no less than 15 burritos from the taqueria over the last two months. And each time La Taqueria delivered, according to reports.

This likely won't sit well with partisans of El Farolito, Taqueria Cancun, Dos Coyotes, Taqueria Guadalajara... but you know. Can't win them all.
