An off-duty San Francisco police officer who suffered non-life threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Eddy Street at Larkin Street in San Francisco was released from hospital Wednesday.
The officer reportedly was in the crosswalk around 3 p.m. Tuesday when a blue Mercedes Benz SUV turned northbound Larkin to westbound Eddy Street striking him.
The driver, identified as 18-year-old San Francisco resident Marisa Androvich, reportedly fled the scene but was pulled over hours later near 22nd and California streets in connection to the incident and was taken into custody.
She was booked into San Francisco County Jail on the charge of felony hit and run. She also was charged with driving without a license, police said.
"He was crossing on a green light, and he got hit by a vehicle. The vehicle then sped off," said William Escobar from SFPD.
The vehicle was towed and held as evidence.
Police asked the public to avoid the area of Larkin Street and Eddy Street while they investigated.
Streets reopened around 5 p.m.
