Ice Rink in San Francisco's Union Square Open for Business

A holiday ice rink is opening in San Francisco's Union Square with a ceremony Wednesday morning featuring, among others, the San Francisco Giants' mascot Lou Seal and a special performance from Disney's "The Lion King," organizers said.

The rink, called the Safeway Holiday Ice Rink, will be open until 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and every night until Jan. 16, according to organizers.

The rink opens every day at 10 a.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children 8 years old and younger. Figure skate and hockey skate rentals are $6 per pair. A portion of the ticket proceeds will go to the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department, organizers said.

More information can be found at the ice rink's website or by calling (415) 781-2688.
