During the investigation, officers found a gun at the scene, police said.

The pursuit started when the patrol officers tried to pull over the vehicle, and the driver failed to yield, police said, adding that it was the same vehicle that evaded police one day earlier as it drove recklessly.

According to department policy, pursuits are allowed only if officers have reasonable suspicion or probable cause that a felony or violent misdemeanor has occurred or is about to occur.

While charges are pending in this case, an SFPD spokesperson did not say what crimes the two arrested men for.

Last year San Francisco voters approved Measure E, which now allows officers to chase suspects for all felonies and violent misdemeanors.
