San Francisco's new floating fire station opened Thursday.

Station 35 is located along the Embarcadero just north of the Bay Bridge.

It will support three fire boats and a rescue watercraft.

It's designed to rise and fall with the natural tides, king tides and projected sea level rise.

Tokyo is the only other known city in the world to have a similar type of fire station.
