San Jose PD: 18-Year-Old “Transient” Arrested in Brutal Murder

A young “transient” man has been arrested for the brutal killing of a homeless woman in San Jose, police said.

Eighteen-year-old Kevin Enamorando beat the woman to death early on the morning of Sept. 12, near where North 15th Street meets Oakland Road in San Jose, according to police.

The woman killed was identified as 58-year-old Betty Jennings. She was seen on surveillance video the night she was killed asking store workers to call police. It's not clear what happened next, but when officers arrived, they said Jennings was lying dead on the sidewalk, and witnesses pointed out the suspect.

Enamorando is the primary suspect, police said, but they did not reveal a motive.

Investigators are urging anyone with more information to come forward.
