San Jose Crews Work to Repair Potholes Following Heavy Storms

The transportation department acknowledges many streets need full re-paving jobs.

Pothole repairs are a big priority in San Jose following heavy rains that slammed the region.

The city has deployed so-called spray-injection trucks for small jobs. Officials said the one-man operation works fast, which means roads being repaired do not have to be closed.

"Certainly after a rainstorm the number of calls we get will double or triple," said Ralph Mize with the city's transportation department.

In most cases, fixing potholes is a "Band-Aid" solution. The transportation department acknowledges many streets need full re-paving jobs, but a bigger budget is needed for that kind of overhaul.
