One person was taken to the hospital after his Audi A4 2016 sedan broadsided a VTA train in an accident Monday morning at Charcot Avenue, officials said.
The person in the car that broadsided the train was taken to Regional Medical Center, officials said. The extent of the injuries were unknown.
The Audi was making a left turn about 7:55 a.m. in front of the VTA vehicle and was hit on the driver's side, according to VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress. The accident was reported at Charcot Avenue and Component, though motorists described the accident at N. First Street.
Because of the accident, service was disrupted along the Alum Rock-Santa Teresa and Winchester-Mountain View lines, according to a VTA spokesperson. Substitute bus service was in place between Bonaventura and Karina stations.
VTA said service was restored about 9 a.m.
