Firefighters doused a two-alarm fire just north of Interstate Highway 280 in San Jose Wednesday.
Just before 3:30 p.m., crews responded to a report of a structure fire at the old Orchard Supply Hardware store at 720 Royal Ave. near Bird Avenue, Fire Capt. Christopher Salcido said.
The blaze was upgraded to a second alarm a few minutes later, Salcido said. The one-story structure, which features office space, was abandoned.
The fire broke out in the attic on the north side of the building, he said.
As of about 4 p.m., no injuries were reported, according to Salcido said. The cause remains under investigation.
No other details about the blaze were immediately available.
