San Jose Junk or Gems

One of the most popular shows on PBS features Bay Area trinkets and treasures this week.

Bay Area residents were in the spotlight Monday night on The Antique Road show on PBS.   If you missed it on TV, PBS posted the goods here come Tuesday.

One of the highlights of the event was a bird bowl and ladle that was appraised at $250,000 to $300,000.   There were also a few Silicon Valley historical items of interest including a Hewlett-Packard Model 200D signed audio oscillator appraised at $7,000 to $8,000.

The taping was last August.  That's when the experts opened up shop at the McEnery Convention Center for the final event of its 2009 Tour.

Everyone can watch the broadcast but it was not that easy to get in the convention center.   In order to score a ticket, fans were forced to enter a drawing.

For non-PBS fans, the show is described as part adventure, part history lesson.
