San Jose Police: Increased Gang Enforcement a Success

San Jose police are calling the first weekend of increased enforcement to curb gang activity a success despite several gang-related crimes reported in the past few days.

Police in the initial weekend of increased enforcement made several unrelated gang arrests, and interviewed many other suspected gang members, officials said.

The San Jose Police Department deployed 20 additional police cruisers over the weekend, each carrying two officers assigned specifically to gang patrol. That number will increase in July, and in August the department will also create a full-time gang suppression team.
