San Ramon Pastor Accused of Sex With Teen Girl, Animal Cruelty

A San Ramon pastor has been arrested on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

Hyo Bin Im also faces felony charges of child concealment, unlawful sexual intercourse and animal cruelty, officials said. The Contra Costa District Attorney's Office filed the felony charges against Im on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Im is also known as Pastor John, and was employed at Contra Costa Korean Presbyterian Church in San Ramon.

A pair of female juvenile runaways were suspected to be with Im. Investigators determined the juveniles were staying with the pastor at his San Ramon home.

Investigators discovered evidence that reveal a romantic relationship between Im and one of the juveniles. In addition, police said they discovered evidence that the pastor was responsible for severe animal cruelty resulting in a small dog being euthanized.

Im was arrested and booked into Martinez Detention Facility on Jan. 29. Bail was set at $180,000. A spokesman for the county jail on Wednesday told NBC Bay Area Im is no longer in custody.

The investigation is ongoing and the San Ramon Police Department is asking for additional information regarding Im.  Anyone with information or additional victims may contact Detective Rob Ransom at 925-973-2715.
