Santa Clara County to Open Warming Centers for Cold Weather Through Christmas

San Jose and Santa Clara County will open up warming centers on Monday to prepare for especially cold weather through Christmas.

Daytime and overnight temperatures are expected to hover between 40 and 50 degrees with the possibility of persistent rainfall on Monday and Tuesday.

Shelters will be open at Leininger Center, 1300 Senter Road; Bascom Community Center, 1000 South Bascom Ave.; Roosevelt Community Center, 901 East Santa Clara St.; and Alum Rock Library, 3090 Alum Rock Ave.

Including the San Jose warming centers, the county will offer a total of 150 additional beds during the cold weather episode.

Additional centers will be located at Bill Wilson Center, City Team Ministries, HomeFirst's Boccardo Reception Center, the Salvation Army, LifeMoves Shelters for Single Adults and Project WeHOPE.
