Santa Cruz's Most-Wanted Is Apprehended

Dimitri Storm, 42, in custody

A serial car thief and master of aliases is at last in police custody.

Dimitri Storm, 42, who stole cars, led police on chases and committed other crimes in five counties from Marin to Monterey over the last month, was apprehended this week, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Police had issued a bulletin warning citizens in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Storm, who also went by "James Prouty Rollston" and other aliases. He had been on the top of Santa Cruz County sheriff's "Most Wanted" list for weeks.

He escaped sheriffs in Sonoma, he fled deputies in Monterey through a construction zone, and he picked up a hitchhiker who he left on a mountaintop, "shaken but unharmed," the newspaper reported.

No details on exactly how he was captured were immediately available. The sheriff's office was to release more details soon.
